sdrawkcaB elcitrA sihT daeR_Dr. Spin-What did Eric Clapton *really* mean?
What is the theme song for Dawson's Creek and its artist? Thanks.
Dear Nameless Questioner,
While I can understand the embarrassment of publicly admitting you like “Dawson’s Creek” to the point of wanting to know who did the theme song, this is no reason not to leave some sort of name. It doesn’t have to be your real name, Joe Kensington of 3641 Redwood Lane, Plano, Texas; it can be what we in the writing business call a pseudonym.
As I said in my last article, I am really annoyed by anonymous letters, so please leave some sort of calling, even if it’s just initials. Or even one letter. Otherwise, I may employ a no name-no response policy. Or if I’m really pressed for letters, I’ll invent names, and believe me, you won’t be happy with them.
Now, to answer your question, the song used as the theme for “Dawson’s Creek” was “I Don’t Want to Wait” by Paula Cole. She was also responsible for the song “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?” Both songs are on her debut album This Fire. You can also buy not one, but TWO CDs worth of music featured on “Dawson’s Creek” off of Amazon.com if you really want to torture yourself.
Is there any backwards masking in Eric Clapton’s songs?
Dear Fishy buns,
While I have never heard of any supposed “subliminal messages” in Clapton’s songs, I did, in the name of journalism, play a few of his songs backwards.
Amazingly enough when I played “Layla” backwards I distinctly heard the message “zeenid bubwa haberjab,” which we all know is Swahili for “I’m going to steal George Harrison’s wife.” The song “Cocaine” contains the subliminal message “I am a heroin addict,” and if you listen carefully to “Let It Rain,” you can hear the message “Jimmy Page sucks,” which is a reference to his well-known distain for the Led Zeppelin guitarist, because, via Jeff Beck, Page ultimately replaced Clapton as lead guitarist of the Yardbirds.
Dear Dr. Spin, I'm looking for the bridge. Can you help me find the bridge? Where is that confounded bridge?
Sincerely, Lost
Dear Lost,
Try checking 59th Street. But I hear you can only find it if your “feeling groovy.” (da-da-da-da da-da da-da, feeling groovy!)
